This Super Bowl Commercial is Propaganda at its Finest: Unveiling the Weight Loss Illusion
All I just saw that Super Bowl ad, and quite honestly, I’m fuming. I want you to take a minute and watch this with me because you’re going to witness propaganda and lies at its finest. Obesity is America’s deadliest epidemic. This is America: 74% of us are overweight, and the $160 billion weight loss industry thrives on keeping it that way. This system wasn’t built to help us; it was built to keep us sick and stuck. But not anymore, they claim. “Him and Hers” offers life-changing weight loss medication that is affordable, doctor-trusted, and designed to fit your body goals and lifestyle. Join us in the fight for a healthier America!
When I watch this ad, I don’t know if I should be angry or laugh. What’s crazy about this ad is that they’re on the right track in the beginning as they talk about the obesity epidemic in America being so deadly and how our system has been in place to keep us sick. All this is accurate. They even mention that the weight loss industry is now a thundering $160 billion industry. And then it goes completely downhill when they try to market another weight loss drug with a slew of propaganda.
The Toxic Illusion of Weight Loss Drugs
Look, the reality is this: we do have an obesity epidemic, and we do need this country to get its health under control. But weight loss drugs like OIC or the new “Him and Hers” brand come with a long list of harmful side effects. We’ve already seen this. You lose muscle mass. It’s even been linked to cancer with long-term use. These side effects, in addition to others, include bone loss, nausea, gastroparesis, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, and sagging faces and butts, known as OIC face and OIC butt, which is really sad. Because you should have a lot of muscle in your butt and legs, and you’re losing that muscle. Some say you are aging your body by 20 years in a few weeks by taking these weight loss drugs.
Now, there’s even a possible link to thyroid cancer. An article by the Fred Hutch Cancer Center warns of possible thyroid tumors, including cancer, and specifically advises those at risk of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplastic syndrome type 2 to avoid these drugs. All these side effects are not worth the risk when there are incredibly effective ways to naturally lose weight alternatively. And by the way, these aren’t just risks. If you take OIC or “Him and Hers,” these peptide drugs will lose muscle mass. So some of it is potential side effects; some of it are you absolutely are losing muscle mass and aging yourself years when you take them.
Embrace Nature’s Wisdom: A Path to Genuine Health
There are natural alternatives. Two of my favorite herbs are berberine and cinnamon. Berberine is known for its ability to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and support your metabolic health that can help you lose weight. In fact, a 2022 review of 18 studies found decreases in both weight and BMI in people who took berberine, especially when they took at least 1,000 mg per day for more than 8 weeks. Cinnamon also helps by reducing blood sugar levels, reducing cravings, and acting as an antioxidant.
Another great option is apple cider vinegar. It promotes healthy blood sugar levels, has antimicrobial and antioxidant benefits, and, according to a study, has appetite suppressor benefits and actually balances out insulin. And did you know there are probiotics that naturally stimulate GLP-1 production? Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains are two that stimulate this production, and they can be found in fermented products and probiotic supplements. So there aren’t just GLP drugs; there are GLP supplements that don’t have side effects and will help your body lose weight.
Last but not least, a simple dietary change: simply going on a high protein diet works wonders when it comes to losing weight, building muscle mass, and controlling your appetite. Aim for about 30 to 50 grams of protein per meal and pair that with veggies, berries, and seeds for best results.
Commit to the Truth, Not the Hype
Listen, don’t underestimate the power of eating whole, real foods, moving your body regularly, prioritizing protein, and choosing natural herbs and supplements as a path to healing. I want to encourage you: stay away from “Him and Hers” completely, stay away from OIC, stay away from Wovi. Instead, do herbs, protein, and lifestyle medicine. If you do that, you’re not only going to lose the weight, you’re going to feel great and live a long time.
